The former WWA Champion returns for the rebirth, can he cap his return by winning Best of the Best?
Rankings
Enigma walks and continues until he stops at the man who was know as the best. The man who would never lose. The man who accepted nothing but the best. That man, is Vince Lombardi. Vince Lombardi coached the Green Bay Packers to two Superbowl victories. He only lost once ever in the playoffs and vowed to never let that happen again. He stares at the picture of the old man who, without question, was a champion. Beside the picture of Vince Lombardi is his famous speech, “What it takes to be #1.” Enigma begins to read out loud.
“Winning is not a sometime thing, it’s an all-time thing. You don’t win once in awhile, you don’t do things right once in awhile, you do them right all the time. Winning is a habit. Unfortunately, so is losing.”
There is no room for second place. There is only one place in my game and that is first place. I have finished second twice in my career and I don’t ever want to finish second again. There is a second place bowl game, but it is for losers played by losers. It is and always has been an American Zeal to be first in anything we do and to win and to win and to win.
Every time a football player goes out to ply his trade he’s got to play from the ground up – from the soles of his feet, right up to his head. Every inch of him has to play. Some guys play with their heads. That’s okay. You’ve got to be smart to be number one in any business. But more important, you’ve got to play with your heart – with every fiber of your body. If you’re lucky enough to find a guy with a lot of head and a lot of heart, he’s never going to come off the field second.
{Enigma stops there and looks down at his heart. He puts his left hand on his chest, specifically his heart. He grabs as if to feel that he still has his heart and that it has not left him. He holds it for a few more seconds. He looks back up directly at the speech and continues to read.}
Running a football team is no different from running any other kind of organization – an army, a political party, a business. The principles are the same. The object is to win, to beat the other guy. Maybe that sounds hard or cruel. I don’t think it is.
“Neither do I.”
It’s a reality of life that men are competitive and the most competitive games draw the most competitive men. That’s why they’re there, to compete. They know the rules and the objectives when they get in the game. The objective is to win…
“By any means necessary.”
And in truth, I’ve never known a man worth his salt, who in the long run, deep down in his heart didn’t appreciate the grind, the discipline and the harsh reality of head-to-head combat.
I don’t say these things because I believe in the ‘brute’ nature of men or that men must be brutalized to be combative. I believe in God, and I believe in human decency. But I firmly believe that any man’s finest hour – his greatest fulfillment to all he holds dear – is that moment when he has worked his heart out in a good cause and lies on the field of battle…
VICTORIOUS
(That ends the speech and Enigma says that word over and over again, Victorious. Enigma stares at the man that is a winner. He is a champion, a man that reached the top of his professional numerous times.)
“Winning, I understand that it is the only thing. People may wonder why I want to go for the World Title now. Because they see that my match with Grunge was a farce, I just walked away from the chance of a lifetime. But those circumstances were different. Bridge wanted me to fight for the title on his show. On his terms. Now I have a real shot. This time I will do it on my terms. I will have the beat the best that Fiesta has to offer, I mean it’s not that they are that good. For you see there is one thing I am going to do. I am going to walk through all of the roster and I am going to earn my shot.”
“Every man who has ever held the World Title, from Randy Cross to Shaman to Kash to Ian Tense all relished in the victory. All of them remember the moment of holding the title for the first time. You can’t become one of the greatest unless you hold that title. There is only once way to ensure that my legacy lives on forever. The only way to do that is to win the World Title. Fiesta is only eight days away. When I get into the ring with whomever it is and I will show them that I deserve to get the World Title. I will do whatever it takes, stoop to any level. I will do whatever I can to get my cold dead hands.”
“Everyone takes about what they are going to do. I have the mind and the ability to do it. I may not be 100% and to be honest I am still feeling the effects of my burning. On March 1st, the margin of error is so small that one little mistake can end it all. One little slip up can end it all. I am going to have to be nothing short of perfect to beat the men who want the gold just as much as I do. The desire that the men feel, the desire that drives us is what will lead us to our graves. I am willing to die to get my hands on the World Title. I am willing to fight and die to win the World Title. There is nothing that is going to stop me. I look inside myself and I see my heart, I may have lost it behind, but my heart is cold and you know what, I am going to follow my heart to get the World Title.”
The World Title
Every man’s dream
One man will walk out with the chance.
I want it to be me.
I WANT GOLD
