The Final Truth The sun shone down to illuminate the grasses of Hampstead Heath in London. Along a well-worn path, Deimos walked calmly. His powerful arm rested in a sling around his neck and a brace held his shoulder still. Behind him, her long blond hair pulled back into a ponytail, Tiffani followed.

“Why are we here?” She asked again.

“I told you, I have to meet someone.” He answered matter-of-factly.

“But, you still haven’t told me who.”

Deimos pointed ahead at the small, out-of-place grove of trees that grew on the false crest up ahead.

“Him.”

Unable to see around Deimos’ large frame, she stepped from the path, trying to stay with Deimos amid the uneven grasses. She peered ahead and saw him standing there. He stood over seven feet tall, his shoulders impossibly broad and powerful, his black hair swaying in the gentle breeze. It was Phobos.

She hurried along, her mouth agape at the sight of him. When they reached the edge of the grove, Deimos calmly sidled up next to the towering man. Tiffani stood back a few paces, apparently unable to believe her eyes. Phobos and Deimos stood quietly, staring at the burial mound hidden within the trees.

“Phobos?” Tiffani ventured. “Where the hell have you been? I’ve looked everywhere for you!”

Phobos remained staring at the burial mound, a white rose held in hand.

“My dear, I have only done as my brother asked.” He replied.

She turned her attention to Deimos.

“What does he mean?” She asked, a little perturbed at the calm that both men expressed.

“I asked him to stay out of it.” Deimos explained. “I wanted to try my hand at singles competition in the WWA. I wanted to see if I could be successful on my own. In order to truly test myself, I had to make sure that Phobos stayed out of it.”

“But,” she began, struggling to find the question that help alleviate her confusion. “I was – I was looking for him. I looked all over the place, from Los Angeles to Germany to London. He was nowhere to be found. How did you find him so easily?”

Phobos smiled and turned to face her.

“We had arranged beforehand to meet here on this day, at this time.” He stated.

Tiffani’s eyes narrowed, realization beginning to dawn on her.

“But, Deimos was doubting himself and his heritage.”

“I know.” Phobos responded. “I was watching.”

“Then why didn’t you do something?”

“Because I asked him not to.” Deimos interrupted. “In order to truly test myself, I had to follow the path that was laid before me. I had to doubt my godhood so that I have the complete experience of fighting for what’s right on my own.”

“So, you never really doubted yourself?” She asked. Deimos turned to face her, his lips curled into a grin.

“Oh, I did. I had to. I had to convince myself to follow the path, and accordingly, I believed every bit of it. I honestly believed that my life and my memories were nothing more than delusions. But, after Rage in The Cage, there was no more need for it. I tried. And I failed.” His smile dropped.

“No, my brother.” Phobos interjected. “You made a name for yourself. You did battle against a monster that masquerades as a man. Despite your doubts and concerns, you fought with all of your heart and determination. On that day, you were bested. But there will be another day.”

“So,” Tiffani began, trying to cement all of this in her mind. “You had convinced yourself that you might not be a god, despite the fact that you knew you would be meeting Phobos here. And all of that effort that I put into finding your brother was pointless, because he wouldn’t have done anything anyway? This is crazy.”

Phobos and Deimos chuckled.

“I know.” Deimos said, moving close to her. “I appreciate what you were trying to do, but it was all part of the experience. It had to be real; otherwise it wouldn’t have been a real test of my spirit.”

“I apologize for not stepping forth when you were looking for me.” Phobos added. “I knew that Leviathan and his lackeys were working hard to keep you from me. But, I could not act. I had given my word to Deimos.”

She looked away, wrapping her arms around herself.

“Well, this was unexpected. So, now what?”

Deimos gently lifted her chin to bring her eyes to meet his gaze.

“Now, I heal this shoulder. Later, we return to the WWA to reclaim that which is rightfully ours.”

“The WWA Tag Team Titles.” Phobos stated with a smile. “We will return to the World Wrestling Alliance. We will return with fury and destruction in our wake. All of the pretenders of the tag team division will learn to be afraid, be very afraid. So swear the sons of Ares, God of War.”

Deimos turned his head to the gathering, threatening clouds above and shouted in a voice like booming thunder.

“CRY HAVOC...!”
