The former WWA Champion returns for the rebirth, can he cap his return by winning Best of the Best?
Rankings
There have been a lot of lessons I have learned over my career, Dave.
I've learned that you are only as good as the next person you put yourself in position to take advantage of.
I came here untested and unproved.
I put myself in position to ride the coattails of the WWAs greatest Television Champion EVER, Pretty Boy Troy Walcott. I learned what I could learn, then I eliminated him. Point blank. Took him out.
He was a friend of mine, truly. I thought, and still think, very highly of the man, but he became a professional liability that needed to be done away with.
It's quite sad if you think about it.
Walcott and I don't speak anymore. He never quite had the "on/off switch" when it came to work, and he took it all a bit too personal.
Bare with me, Dave, there is a reason I'm bringing this up.
Next, there was the most recent House of Pain incarnation.
As much as I despised the sack of *beep*, I spoke with Damian Thorne on occasion, and he always considered Randy Cross somewhat of a mentor. I mean, it was only after Cross' tuteledge that Damian was able to take the next step towards the world title.
Until that point he had damned himself to TV titles and Extreme belts.
Needless to say, in THorne's eyes, Cross became a professional liability also.
We all know how that turned out, don't we? Thorne eliminated Cross and took his most prized possession...the House of Pain.
A tragedy surely worthy of Shakespear, to be sure.
It goes on and on and on, Dave. I could sit here and spout out example after example after example, but I really don't have that much free time, and I'm sure you already get the drift.
Have you become a professional liabilty to XCorp yet?
You've already lost your IC title to your friend Mal Sommers, the man who has, in many people's eyes, been in your shadow since you started competing in the singles ranks.
Are you excessive baggage? Are you holding the 'team' back?
Chance has already teetered on the brink of the Main Event and World Title shots for quite some time, but now finds himself back at your heels.
Have you become a detrement to your own team?
Surely not, right Dave?
I mean you and Mal have been a team for what seems to be forever, right? There is no way that could happen to the mighty XCorp, right?
Well, let me put it to you in another light.
Has XCorp become dead weight to you?
Dave, there is more potential in your pinky finger than in the rest of XCorp combined. You kow it. I know it. The rest of the locker room knows it. And most importantly, the fans know it.
Surely you've seen it with your own eyes, the way the idiot fans marked out for the Dave/Mal fight.
They thought THIS would be the time that Dave Harley would burst through. THIS would be the time that Dave Harley laid his albatross down.
THIS would be the time Dave Harley came into his own.
No more scrabble
No more talking belts
No more Xmobile
Just you and your talent.
If I'm way off base here, Dave, tell me.
But I think you'll find it very difficult to make an argument against that, and I'm not in the mood for debating.
Dave. I'll put this to you very simply.
It wasn't the "XCorp Charm" that put me into this wheelchair.
It wasn't the "XCorp Wit" that beat Lockdown for the GenX belt.
It wasn't the "XCorp backstage antics" that made you be a stand up kinda guy week in and week out while you single handedly brought credibilty back to the GenX title.
It was "Dave Harley" that did that.
Now Dave, XCorp cannot beat me. I've surrounded myself with the right guys to make sure that is the truth.
XCorp cannot beat me.
You know it.
ANd you also know what you, Dave Harley, will have to do to beat me.
You will have to set XCorp aside.
Because if you don;t, Dave. If you can't, The Devil's Own will take them out one-by-one-by-one until you become so distracted that you will be beaten by the time you even get to the ring.
Its you or them, Dave.
I urge you to be the one that makes that decision, because I guarantee that behind closed doors, the rest of XCorp are making the same decision about you.
Dave, you really need to understand what you are facing.
I am not a GenXer. I am not an IC contender.
I am a former World Champion. I am the 2nd longest reigning World Champion in WWA History.
When you look in my eyes, you know i've been exactly where you are right now.
And when you hear what I'm saying, you know that I am saying nothing more than the truth.
It's a hard road to toll, Dave.
Do the right thing.
