I'm Dead Serious (Scene – We open in a dark room. Central to the screen sits Mal Somers on a fold out chair. Clean shaven. Hair tied back. In a suit and tie. No Rookie to be seen.)

Somers: There are so many serious, dark and mysterious characters in the WWA.

Kash, Kraven, Phobos, Deimos, Shaman, myZery, Prometheus, Se7en, Enigma, Wes Sanders, The Psycho, are some that spring to mind. It seems to be the "in" thing to be deep dark and affected, to wrap yourself in mythology, or alternate lifestyles.

That’s why X-Corp is so unique in the WWA. We don’t try and make the world feel sorry for us by saying how bad our childhood was. We don’t dress in all in black or paint our faces like we are going to a ball game.

We just like to have fun and we sure know how! And the fans can see that it is the real “us” when we are on Meltdown, Fiesta or Insider, at a Pay Per View or an autograph signing. We give a bit of ourselves every time you see us and the fans can really connect.

But a lot of the dipsticks who like to pick on X-Corp keep going on and on and on, using clichés like we are nothing but a “joke”. They misinterpret the real “us”, the guys who like to play Scrabble, the guys who like to have a beer after the show, the guys who like to go to the Playboy mansion. They think because we have lives, and don’t live in a lair, or don’t complain about how our mommy and daddy didn’t love us enough...that we aren’t serious, we aren't contenders. If we aren’t serious, then we are a joke.

NOTHING COULD BE FURTHER FROM THE TRUTH.

(We weren’t aware of it til now, but the camera has ever so slowly zoomed in on Somers until we see just his face on screen. His intense stare piercing the screen. You would swear he is talking directly to each and every viewer individually.)

Somers: I can’t speak for my associates, but deep down, I am serious. I always have been. You see, wrestling is the business I love. It is my life. It’s the business that has cost me many friends, so I can only count my true friends on one hand. It cost me the love of my life, Miss Penny Wise.

(smirks)

Somers: Its because of this business that I cant rotate my right arm fully without feeling discomfort. The specialists say that will always be the case. On a cold right when I walk, my knees pop. I didn’t get that playing Scrabble, being a “joke.” I got that from this business I love. Sometimes when it is supposed to be deathly silent, I have a slight buzzing in my ears. Countless concussions. Dozens of sprains, several fractures and broken bones. All because of this business I love.

This business I take seriously. This seriousness isn’t something you turn on and off like Leviathan’s workrate. It just is. It has always been there and it always will.

This Saturday, Joey and this Monday, Leviathan, I want both of you to keep all of the above in mind. Im sure the punishment you deal out to me will add to all of the above. It will add to the business I love.

But when all is said and done, and the smoke has cleared, you have to realise, it’s a give and take situation. The more you dish out, the more I take, the more I give back in return.

Just think about that next time you see Dave pouring beer down my pants or me talking to Rookie. These are just parts of me, but not all of me. Its time for Mal Somers to step up to the plate and show the WWA that I am dead serious.

(Fade to black.)
