“Come on!” Dave pleaded, “You can’t seriously tell me that you can uphold a stipulation like that! I had no idea about it! I was deceived into signing that contract!”
Sitting behind the desk was the Head of the WWA Legal Team, Dave Griffiths. He held a copy of the contract in one hand and a cup of tea in the other. He took a sip as he scrutinized the contract before him.
“How did you let Ian Tense trick you like that Dave?” Mal asked, his Intercontinental Gold gleaming in the light.
Dave sighed, he wasn’t sure himself. “I told you Chairboy, I went out to that contract signing expecting trouble. I was expecting the usual wrestling contract signing. I expected Lockdown to pin me down and Ian to sign the contract in my blood. I was caught off guard when he did nothing!” At least that was what he had convinced himself. Mr Griffiths placed his cup of tea down on the desk and sat back. Harley looked at him anxiously, “Well?”
“Mr Harley…this is a perfectly legal contract.”
“But I was tricked into signing it!”
“But we have video footage of you signing the contract. You weren’t tricked. You just didn’t read all the clauses. As far as we’re concerned, that’s your own fault!”
Dave jumped up and reached across the desk grabbing Mr Griffiths around the neck, “Are you telling me there’s a possibility I could be joining Devil’s Own at Independence Day Rumble?! You’ve no idea how Tense’s sick mind works. He’s got his whole Devil’s Own army waiting for me at that arena. All he has to do is load me in to the back of an ambulance on a stretcher and that’s it!”
Mr Griffiths starts to turn red as he speaks, “Mr Harley, that’s not the only thing. You realise, if you lose…”
“If I lose!”
“…If you lose and if you refuse to join Devil’s Own…you’d be in breach of your contract and liable for a significant amount of money…”
In a rage, Dave threw Mr Griffiths back into his seat and stared down at the helpless lawyer, “Well then…I guess I’ll have to beat him then, won’t I?”
