The former WWA Champion returns for the rebirth, can he cap his return by winning Best of the Best?
Rankings
Hey fans! Wallace Coleman back at you! After an exciting first bracket of the Harrington Invitational Tournament qualifying round, we are back with more results for your watering mouths. Who will survive and advance? Who's hopes will live on, and who will be eliminated? To recap, two weeks ago Shaman, Armaan, Nick Adams, and Jaymz Watkins fought through their respective opponents to advance to the Harrington Invitational Tournament first round in spectacular fashion. This week eight more wrestlers put it all on the line with the hopes of becoming the very first HIT champion!
But first things first...
Tank -vs- Roberts
The opening match, one that RJ Stone got cleared by Kade Williams himself for this show, pitted his ex-butler up against Commissioner Williams' new enforcer, Tank. This "match" had the stipulation that if Roberts won, he was able to keep a job within Stone's house...and if he lost, he was fired and out on the street. The bell rang and this sickening display was already over. Tank exploded into Roberts with a spear and followed that up with an earth shaking powerbomb. He then locked the poor old butler in a bearhug and the ref sounded the bell when Roberts went limp and began to cough up blood. Roberts was carried out on a stretcher, and in an even more disgusting show of disrespect, RJ, his new lady friend Yasmine Beckridge, and Tank all followed the stretcher up the ramp into the back. As Roberts was loaded into the stretcher, they all stood in the parking lot, smiling as they watched the ambulance take him away.
Winner: Tank by submission (Bearhug) 45 s
Luckily the sinister overtones that RJ and Tank left over the arena soon died out as the excitement surrounding the inaugural HIT, and that is where we now turn our attention to!
Christopher Dumont -vs- RJ Stone
Billed as the "Heir to the Throne" versus the "Heir to the Heir", there has been an uncommon amount of tension surrounding this match-up. After Kade Williams' dubbed RJ Stone the "Heir to the Heir", Chris Dumont took offense and voiced his disgust throughout the last two weeks by documenting Stone's underwhelming resume. From the onset both men seemed on top of their game with neither being able to gain an upper hand as the match starts with a picture perfect counter clinic. A quick low blow gives RJ the first opportunity and he takes advantage with a lightening quick DDT. RJ does a good job controlling the flow of the match, never giving Dumont a chance to unload his explosive offense. However you don't hang around with the likes of Kade Williams and Ian Tense without learning a thing or two, and he shows why he has been dubbed the "Heir to the Throne" when he counters an attempted Superplex with a quick thumb to the eye before shoving Stone from the turnbuckle to the mat and taking flight!
Winner: Chris Dumont by pinfall (Darkstar Splash) 10min 36sec
Ringmaster K -vs- Seth Copeland
Do you know how people are fascinated by car wrecks? Or those video shows with the car chases and hold-ups? This was no different. Seth Copeland showed why he was in the midst of a World Title chase at the end of the season in dominating fashion as he inflicted his will on Ringmaster K from bell-to-bell. Is this a sign that Copeland has managed to regain the momentum he seemingly lost after a few key losses to end the season? I wouldn't doubt it. Not in the least.
Winner: Seth Copeland by pinfall (The Endgame) 3min 45 sec
Christian Matthews -vs- Eddie Van Dorn
In one of the most intriguing matches in the tournament, US Champion Eddie Van Dorn faces one of the many men aiming for his title in Christian Matthews. Matthews, who recently forfeited his undisputed TV championship for a run at EVD's US title, seemed overwhelmed by the moment as EVD managed to take control early and never gave up control of the match. While Matthews no doubt showed flashes of why he has emerged as a potential US title contender, EVD was never truly in danger as he finished this one off in true EVD fashion.
Winner: EVD by pinfall (The Dropout) 8 min 36 sec
Mr. Darkness -vs- Intrepid
Intrepid made a splash upon his arrival in the WWA and has been a part of one of the most intriguing rookie classes in WWA history, but standing before him was longtime WWA favorite Mr. Darkness. If Intrepid was scared, he sure didn't show it as he ripped into Darkness early on and without mercy. Darkness never had a fighting chance as Intrepid showed he was set on keeping the momentum he had at the season's end.
Winner: Intrepid by pinfall (Justice Rendered) 5min 01sec
So that's it! We now have our qualifiers; Shaman, Armaan, Nick Adams, Jaymz Watkins, Intrepid, Chris Dumont, EVD, and Seth Copeland all advance to the 1st round of Harrington Invitational Tournament. The cream is separating from the crop as we move forward.
Thanks for tuning it.
Coleman out.
