WWA 411 Overload: With Special Guest Rodney Phoenix It’s a luminous clear day, with the sun, suspending high, shining vibrantly in the blue cloudless sky. A man on a black Harley Davidson pulls up into the parking lot of WWA Headquarters. He halts briefly to obtain a ticket from the security tollbooth, and resumes to search for a parking location for his motorcycle. The man is dressed in a black trench coat, black gloves, black boots, black pants. The man’s blue colored hair screens his face. He is wearing a blue faded shirt with an “RP” logo. A silver and red pendent that of the Noctis Cross is clearly visible above his chest. The man known as Rodney locks his motorcycle and now saunters towards the glass sliding doors of the WWA Headquarters.

Rodney walks up to the receptionist sitting behind the counter just inside the building. It seems the young lady before him, with her back towards Rodney, is on her cell phone on a personal call on company time. Well its bad policy if you ask me, but what do I care? The young lady expresses some terms of endearment while talking on the phone. The few seconds that Rodney has been standing there he has gathered that she is talking to her significant other. Rodney seems disturbed by this. Jessica suddenly consumes his mind, like a ghastly virus with no vaccine.

“Excuse me, Miss”, Rodney expresses in a sharp toned voice. “I’m looking for WWA studio, with Matt and Ryan.”

The young lady turns around, with her hand gracefully covering her cell phone as if she were trying to conceal it from Rodney’s eyes.

“Oh hello there, how may I help?” The startled lady asks, obviously not hearing Rodney.

“As I said, I’m looking for the WWA studio, with Matt and Ryan.” Rodney reiterates with some expression of being annoyed by this female. “What floor are they on?”

“Fifth floor, the elevator is down this hall and to the left.” The lady responds with a smile, trying her best to be positive and genuinely happy.

“Good”, Rodney satisfied with the answer. As he walks by he “inadvertently” knocks a stack of folders with his elbow that has various papers in them, sending them all on top of the lady’s desk. The lady is taken aback as she sits there watching the papers and vanilla folders fly scattering all on her desk.

“Oops” as Rodney expresses amusement.

Rodney journeys through the massive WWA building over to a studio. Inside the studio there is numerous WWA posters of WWA athletes such of stars like Dave Harley, Mal Somers, Jack Griffiths, Shaman, and WWA PPV posters such as Rage in the Cage and Independence Day Rumble. There is also a huge backdrop with graffiti like letters spelling out “WWA 411 Overload”. A few assortment of executive like chairs surround a table, each chair with an overhead microphone.

Matt Clark and Ryan Boone are getting prepared. Rodney observes through a glass window just on the outside of the studio. One of the employees approaches Rodney. A skinny Caucasian man, wearing a black shirt with a WWA employees badge attached to his shirt.

“You must be Rodney Phoenix,” The employee states with confidence.

“Indeed”, Rodney assures the man.

“Just have a seat out here, until we introduce you on the show, you’ll enter that door” The employee expresses while pointing at the door in front of Rodney as it leads into the studio on the other side of the glass window. Rodney just nods in agreement.

Matt and Ryan sit in their respective seats, as the radio show is about to commence. Matt sits down overlooking his paperwork out in front of him. He strokes his Fu'Man'Chu style goatee. He is wearing a black WWA employee t-shirt and casual khaki pants. And Ryan, gleaming his smile of his, excited, as the show is about to begin taking his seat. He is wearing blue denim shorts, white WWA t-shirt with a Hawaiian shirt over it, but unbuttoned.

The man in the booth adjacent to Matt and Ryan plays the song “American Idiot” by Green Day as the show starts.

"Welcome to the WWA 411 Overload. This is our second edition of the new WWA radio show, but with a new name. My name is Matt Clark, and with me always, my sidekick Ryan Boone.” Matt expresses into the microphone.

"Before we begin our show I’d like to explain how our new name came about. Indeed, WWA 411 Overload was actually picked by our audience after our first show aired. First, rumors spread quickly that our show needed a name; emails started pouring with potential names for our show. Some were good, some were infringing some copyright laws, and some were just plain outrageous.” Ryan says enthusiastically.

“Yes, then our staff took the three most suitable names, and launched an Internet poll-“ Matt starts to explain as he is interrupted abruptly.

“Which was my idea”, Ryan boasts.

Matt explains, “The top names we had were WWA 411 Overload, WWA Insider Access, and WWA Desire to Know. Winner was obviously…”

“What are show is called now, WWA 411 Overload!” Ryan finishes Matt’s sentence.

“Right, and now, we have a special guest on our show. Our first show was “High Flyin” Jimmy Zion, Four time WWA Extreme Champion”, Matt states.

“Yea but today we have WWA newcomer, Rodney Phoenix.” Boone expresses with some excitement.

The man in the booth initiates “Judith” by A Perfect Circle in the soundtrack, as it starts to play over the speaks and fills the studio. The same WWA employee now expresses for Rodney to enter. Rodney walks through the doorway and takes his seat assigned for him. The WWA employee fixes the overhead microphone closer to Rodney’s face.

Ryan Boone gets up to shake Rodney’s hand. He extends his right arm out. “Welcome to the show Rodney Phoenix!”

Rodney Phoenix overlooks Ryan’s act of good character by extending his hand to shake Rodney’s. Ryan feeling incredulity takes back his hand and sits back in his seat. Rodney clears his throat.

“Welcome to the show Rodney” Matt iterates.

Matt pauses briefly, expecting a response from Rodney, but Rodney just looks fiercely into Matt’s eyes as he sits in his chair emotionless. Rodney’s eyes gleam through his blue locks of hair that mask his face.

“What brought you here to the WWA, Rodney?” Ryan, with the icebreaker.

“An opportunity.” Rodney retorts. “WWA seemed like an opportunity to express how I feel.”

“Care to explain more on that?” Ryan inquires.

“No” Rodney replies calmly.

Matt is studying Rodney trying to break the brick wall through Rodney’s mind, then he suggests, “On our show it’s okay to express yourself, here is your opportunity. How do you feel so far after a few weeks of being in the WWA?”

“How do I feel?” Rodney mimics the question, “I entered the WWA because of its nature. Everyone here fights for a cause. I want to express my self in aggressive ways that is acceptable on a weekly basis, something you can’t do out in public, or you’d quickly be incarcerated. I want to hurt people, as it makes me happy. So I ask this. What makes you happy Matt?”

“Uh, well my wife and kids, my work…” Matt hastily responds.

“What if one day all that was gone? Your wife, your children were no more?” Rodney strikes Matt with this pondering question.

“What’s that suppose to mean?” Ryan intrudes.

“What if one day Matt’s wife and children were taken, what do you have left, would you still be happy?” Rodney again asks Matt.

“Well I’m just thankful for the life that I live. I’m thankful that God has given me a beautiful wife, and two healthy adorable children, and proud to call my self a father.” Matt proudly answers Rodney’s question.

“What if one day, God took that all away?” Rodney again strikes another question at Matt.

“Aren’t we supposed to be the ones asking you questions?” a perplexed Ryan Boone asks in the air for someone to answer for him.

“This is a talk show, is it not?” Rodney states, “Well I’m simply just asking questions, talking amongst ourselves, Matt care to answer me?”

“Like I said, I’m just thankful for what I have and what I’ve accomplished in life.” Matt evades the question.

“I guess not.” Rodney answering his own question.

Matt heartedly asks a sensitive question directed at Rodney, “Care to explain the events that occurred around Jessica’s death? How’d you get through that ordeal?”

Ryan includes another question, “Did the man who was intoxicated who struck Jessica’s car receive a prison sentence?” Ryan obviously knows some facts of Rodney’s background with the intent on knowing more.

“I prefer. No wait. I definitely do not want to have a discussion about anything pertaining to Jessica. If you persist, there will be consequences.” Rodney makes clear for Ryan and Matt.

“Getting back on topic. Rodney you were recently involved with a 10-man WWA battle Royal on the latest edition of WWA Meltdown, which featured WWA new talented additions to the WWA roster, with the winner receiving an WWA Extreme title shot at the champion Shaman. You lasted all the way down to the final four, until you were eliminated by the big man, Hitchin.” Matt articulates.

Ryan adds, “Emacula won the battle royal. Do you feel he deserved the win? And the shot at the WWA Extreme title?”

Rodney reaches into his pocket of his trench coat he is still wearing. He grasps his silver metallic zippo lighter. As he plays with his lighter, he recollects his thoughts in his mind before he speaks.

“Is Emacula worthy of the shot at the WWA Extreme Championship? No. He didn’t defeat me. He may have outlasted me in a match based on chance. Did I prevail in the battle royal? No. So Do I feel that Emacula deserves it? I ought to have it, so the answer to your pitiable question is simply, NO. Emacula just had good fortune that night and won by chance and luck.”

Ryan imposes, “Is that jealousy I detect coming from Rodney”

Rodney answers back heatedly, “Did the man beat me? No. Am I envious of Emacula, and his shot at Shaman’s championship? No. Why? I know I’m superior to him and that is all. And I will prove to all the WWA critics this upcoming WWA Meltdown, as WWA has put me in opposition to Jack Griffiths.”

“Speaking about that” Matt begins to speak, “What are your thoughts on Jack Griffiths, and your chances of overcoming the heavily favorite to win the match?”

Rodney again pauses briefly. He flicks open his metallic zippo lighter, and then ignites a flame. Rodney gazes into the flame as he answers Matt’s question.

“Jack Griffiths is nothing, he is meaningless to me. Just an obstacle I will over come, an obstacle that the WWA has thrown at me to test me, which I’ll prevail. What do I think about my chances? You might want to ask this question instead, what are Jack Griffith’s chances of surviving this match, surviving me?” Rodney avows.

Ryan explains, “Okay wait, Jack is one of the WWA brightest, in fact he beat Dave Harley recently. Who is the WWA World Champion for Christ sake’s.”

Rodney laughs at this, “Sure only because at the Bourbon Street Brawl, Dave determined to take matters into his own hands and got himself disqualified. Therefore sure Jack won the match, defeating the champion, but is Jack the World Champion? No, because Dave overpowered him, so do not compare the two, because they aren’t the same.”

Ryan abruptly changing the topic, “What’s with the raven that goes everywhere you go?”

Rodney chuckles to himself, “What about her?”

Ryan, “Some say that you talk to the raven, and even more bizarre, that the raven talks to you? Care to explain to some who may be confused by this?”

“Not really, let the confused ones be confused. I don’t care. The raven follows me; it doesn’t concern you or anyone. Even if I did explain, people will still be confused, because they can’t comprehend what they don’t understand. Move on” Rodney proclaims.

“Well our time is running short. Rodney any last comments for our viewers out there, or to your opponent Jack Griffiths?” Matt asks.

Rodney clears his throat, and brings the microphone closer to his mouth as he begins to voice out his next line, “WWA, beware and prepare… Jack Griffiths, this coming Meltdown, There Will Be No Mercy.”
