Did anyone get the number of that truck?

When people enter the comatose state of being everyone’s minds respond differently. Some people believe that they are dead and believe that they are in purgatory awaiting judgment on their life. Others know that they are in a coma and either accept the fact and struggle to live, or give up and let the darkness engulf them. Then there are those with no brain activity at all. They are the lucky ones. Being trapped in ones mind can drive a man insane.

What’s going on? Why can’t I open my eyes? Man, my head hurts!

Once a comatose patient comes to understand and accept his current state of being he can ultimately start on his path to recovery. The power of the mind is quite stunning when used to its fullest potential.

Dynamite! He did this to me. That sledgehammer. Deimos. I didn’t want Deimos to get hurt… This is what I get…

On average a human being uses only ten percent of his brain, but just as when a man loses his sight and his hearing improves, does that mean when the body is rendered useless the brainpower improves?

I can hardly blame Dynamite for what has happened… What HAS happened exactly? Am I… Dead?

Such a vast and extraordinary thing the brain is. If only we could tap into it and use it to its full potential. We might even be able to process things as we wish. Maybe even skip about threw time.

No, I can’t be dead. There is too much for me to do. I will overcome this and return to the ring… Return to my life.

To better understand the power of the mind, doctors study comatose patients very closely. Studies have shown that a comatose patient may be able to hear and comprehend what is going on around him. This means that when around the patient you should only speak positively, and keep familiar voices around to help them “find their way back“.

What’s that?

[A faint manly voice is heard.]

Man: Here he is. Now remember what I told you. Even though he is in a coma, he may still be able to hear you. He may need to hear some friendly voices and let him know you are here.

Coma? Is that what this is? I’m trapped in a coma?

[A soft womanly voice can barley be heard.]

Woman: Oh Matt, I hate to see you like this.

M… Mother?

Mother: Your golden heart has led you to this bed. I’m so proud of you honey.

[Her voice gets muddled and the sound in hear voice tells Komodo that she is crying.]

Mother: [sniff] I love you so much. I knew this career would have its dangers, but I never saw this coming.

I’m sorry you have to see me like this.

Mother: Oh my God! His hand!

Man: What?

Mother His hand, it moved!

Man: That is known to happen. Your voice is a well-known voice inside his memory. It’s just a reflex, nothing more.

It’s not a reflex! I want to hold her hand and let her know I’m FINE!

[All the noises go silent again.]

No! What’s going on? Where did they go? Where is my mom’s voice?

Pyro: Hey Big D.

Pyro? But where did my mother go?

Pyro: It’s been a week since you had that accident.

A whole week has gone by?

Pyro: Your back in Iowa, the hospital in Iowa City at the University. I don’t know if you can hear this but the doc says that you might be able to… Why’d ya’ do it Big D? I know Havoc has helped us out on numerous occasions, but we’ve helped them out just as mush. We were even. You didn’t owe them anything!

Oh Pyro…

Pyro: And now look at ya’! Laying lifeless in this bed… I need you big guy. The WWA needs you. You better wake up from this. I mean I can’t win those titles back by myself.

[Pyro‘s sad but serious voice changes to a tone of joking and laughter.]

Pyro: Don’t make my come in there and get you.

[All noises cut off again.]

Why does this keep happening?

Some say that the brain is at its most potent while at rest. In a dream, for instance, time is comprehended in the blink of an eye. A whole dream that seems like it is hours long may only be as long as a second or two. The same is true in the reverse. You may be asleep for hours but you believe it’s only been a few seconds.

[A familiar man’s voice heard.]

Man: I’m sorry…

Deimos? That you man?

Deimos: Komodo, I’m so sorry. It’s my fault. That shot was meant for me. I should be where you are.

It was my choice, I have to live with it. Not you. Don’t blame yourself.

Deimos: You were honorable as a tag team champion, loyal as a friend, and noble as a human being. Such things shouldn’t happen to such good people.

Deimos: Because of your generous deed Havoc was able to regain the tag team titles. I thank you for this chance to show the WWA that Havoc is still number one. No good deed goes unnoticed and no crime goes unpunished. I swear on Ares, and give you my word as a man, that this will not go unpunished.

Some victims of a coma never wake up. Others wake up in a few days. There is no way of telling when or even if someone will wake up from this state, alls there is to do is pray and hope for the best. Keep familiar voices around and let this person know how much they are needed.
