At the game.
Approaching the staple centre Chris Macbeth pauses at the statue of Wayne Gretzky before moving over to the wall of fame.

Looking up at the wall and reading through the Kings, Lakers and Clippers all time best including Magic Johnson and topped with Wayne Gretzky (The great one).

Thinking about the rankings and hall of fame in the WWA Macbeth imagines all the names and all the faces that would appear on there very own wall of fame.

Obviously the already hall of famed. Randy Cross, Nikodemous Seiger, The outlaw and the Overlords of dark. Then there is the World Heavyweight champion Kade Williams, Mal Somers, Dave Harley, Damian Thorne heck even Christopher Dumont. Macbeth is sure he would make it onto that list as well.

One thing that slightly troubles him is he struggles to be able to see his own face on his imagined WWA wall of fame.

The only place he can insert his name and face is at the top. His name would be written right before the opening of brackets and the words. “The Great One” then followed by the closing of brackets.

It’s all of nothing for him in the wrestling business. If his name isn’t at the top of the list showing he is the best ever then he doesn’t want to be in the hall of fame at all.

Walking away from the Gretzky statue and the wall of fame he passes the Magic Johnson statue he knows he is a long way off any hall of fame and a long way from getting the accolade like the #1 hockey player of all time. But he can’t help but think that at Rage in the Cage his match with Jack Griffiths will begin his push to the top. In fact if done right it could catapult him right up there with the greats.

Making his way around the arena to the main entrance he pulls his ticket out of his pocket and hands it to the woman who rips off one section and hands the biggest bit back to Macbeth.

Woman: Make your way round to the left and you will find the entrance to you seating area about halfway.

Macbeth nods and starts his walk around the arena to find his seat. After passing multiple concession stands and people selling match day programs. He reached the block his seat is located.

Sitting into his seat the sudden coldness from the ice sent a chill though his body. The same type of chill that rushes down his spine when he thinks about the pain Jack Griffiths must have been feeling when a steel chair was driven into his head.

This brings back the feeling of joy and excitement he had when he was stood over Griffiths after driving his title belt into the face of his opponent at Rage in the Cage.

As the Staples Centre fills the atmosphere and excitement builds. When the kings come out to warm up the crowd erupts into a enormous chant of Go Kings Go.

A guy sat to Macbeths left leans in close.

Guy: I bet you get a reaction like that every week.

Macbeth: Kind of.

Guy: A few more boo’s I suppose.

Macbeth: Yeah but I like it.

The guy just stares uneasily at Macbeth for a while and sits back up in his seat as the players make there way back to the locker room.

After a while Macbeth gives in and buys a game day program from the steward who decided to locate himself right next to him screaming out for custom.

Not believing he just handed over 10 bucks for the little book he begins to flick through the pages trying to waist some time before the game starts.

He comes across a page with the readers Joke of the week. This read…

“What do you call a donkey with 3 legs? A wonky”

Macbeth clearly not finding the joke funny closes the program and sits back in his chair. The same guy as before begins to chat to him.

Guy: Not impressed with the joke then.

Macbeth: It sucked.

Guy: Yeah it was lame. They need to find some newer material.

There is a brief pause before the guy pipes up again.

Guy: Hey you know what I used to have this dog.

Macbeth: That’s nice.

Guy: Yeah I called him Tyson.

Macbeth: That’s good.

Macbeth is obviously getting frustrated with the pointless conversation.

Guy: Anyway every time the door bell rang he would run behind the couch into the corner.

Macbeth looks a bit more intrigued at this.

Macbeth: Really whys that?

Guy: Because he was a boxer.

The guy burst into laughter and Macbeth even manages to let out a little smile himself.

Macbeth: Very good. Very good.

Guy: I had you going there.

Macbeth: No you didn’t.

Macbeth turns to face the ice and begins to think about the joke he just heard. Well the part about moving into the corner. At Rage in the Cage in the XCAGE. There will be corners but not corners to be able to go hide in. The ref will not stop the match to send both competitors back into there own corners. This one will not stop until someone has grabbed that US title belt by climbing the cage and making there way along the ropes that are forming the X over the middle of the ring.

He mumbles out loud…

Macbeth: I better be ready for this. Griffiths better be ready for this.
