American Freebear

American Freebear is a wild-eyed, heavy set individual with wide shoulders and huge massive arms for smashing. Coarse chestnut brown hair melds seemlessly into his glorious muttonchops, but two wild tuffets on top give him the appearence of having short little bear ears. Chest like a rug and arms... like muscular smaller rugs. Thighs are huge and unwieldy for kicks, but effective for all other purposes. Has purple flame tatoos running along both biceps.

While wrestling, Freebear wears a dark olive star-spangled singlet with matching half-tights with white trim. Hard rubber elbow and kneepads are medically designed to absorb the impact from repeated moonsaults, and boots are similarly customised to be thick but flexible in keeping with Freebear's aerial nature. He favors big red-white-and-blue striped wristbands and tassles off the elbow pads.

Big loud and boisterous, the American Freebear nevertheless possesses a certain wordly knowledge that seperates him from the rest of the young punks making their name in the wrestling business.

As the son of a plumber, Waylon Reynolds was taught the value of higher education; his mother in particular not wanting her child to grow up digging ditches for a living. He earned a college football scholarship mostly due to his size and actually did the responsible thing, applying himself in his studies until he found himself employed at the local insurance company... as some sort of cubicle drone. Truth be told, young Waylon always suffered from extreme wanderlust and just wanted to fly across the world; even if he had to become a roadie to Lynard Skynard to do so. His mother's discipline gave him financial security but left him emotionally unsatisfied... Thus at the age of thirty-one did Waylon finally decide to quit his job and persue a career in pro-wrestling after watching the exotic locals from which the various programs aired.

Thinking his natural size and strength would ensure him a future in any wrestling federation, Waylon quickly learned the harsh reality that is wrestling schools. There, trainers repeatedly and with great pains attempted to mold the big man into a competent grappler but Waylon had trouble learning even the simplest of techniques. Trainers were at their wit's end and about to toss the 328 pound bruiser out the door when, out of the blue, without anyone expecting it, Waylon performed a friggin' top rope MOONSAULT while in self-practice!!!
 
Everyone was astonished!! Waylon was simply attempting to imitate a previous wrestler's maneuver and amazed everyone with an unbelievable MOONSAULT! This changed everything: although the moonsault was sloppy, Waylon impressed the class enough to gain the admiration of his peers. Fed by their praise, Waylon practiced his moonsault over and over until it was a thing of beauty. He started enjoying those high-flying maneuvers and trainers soon realized they had quite the aerially adept big man at their disposal, executing dropkicks and cartwheels on command. Waylon similarly rejoiced: never would he have imagined his place in wrestling be as a high-flyer and he enjoyed the exhiliration that came with each and every high-risk maneuver. Now his passion is to fly, fly free, not like a tiny bird but as the huge bear-like creature that he is. Two years later, he adopted the name from the song of his youth and became... the American Freebear!
