| History | Mal Somers was formerly a shy assistant for a multi-national gold mining company, which was owned by his parents. When their private jet went missing in Africa on an expedition, Somers took over the company and for many years he believed that his strong work ethic would enable him to improve the company even more. Sadly, he was made a scapegoat by the board of directors and fired when the project he was working on failed to be productive. He sought solace in what was formerly his weekend and after work hobby, professional wrestling, and after several years of intense training, became the "Chairman" of his own one man company. He returned to his former workplace, silver colored chair in hand and hospitalised many former co – workers and upper management. In fact he injured everyone except for his former secretary, Penny Wise who he always had a soft spot for. In his search for the ultimate gold prize, he and his "personal assistant" Miss Wise, (think of a brunette Miss Hancock) were recruited to the EWA, where, in spite of his technical and aerial skill, he quickly became embroiled in bitter feuds within their Extreme Division against the likes of Dave Harley and Lockdown. Soon after, he became their Extreme Champion and all was great. However, things rapidly crashed down for Somers, as he lost his title, and his valet, Miss Wise was abducted. He debuted in the WWA in search of Miss Wise and more gold! Soon Somers won the WWA Rookie Title, and discovered that his valet was shacked up with an EWA alumnus, Leviathan. Somers has recently teamed up with his old rival, the man who beat him for the EWA Extreme Title, Dave Harley, to take on "The Cell". This faction is comprised of Leviathan, Miss Wise, Lockdown (another old EWA rival) and Commissioner Cruz. When the Rookie Title was retired, Somers kept the belt and now calls him "Rookie", quite peculiar indeed. X-Corp recruited Chance, making them a formidable trio, that is until the recent heinous attack on Somers by Dave Harley. Mal overcame the odds at the Labor Day Brawl to win the WWA World Title in the infamous King of the Hill match. Roll on the era of MALcoholism! He lost it to Dave Harley at Labor Day Brawl, but he rediscovered his parents thanks to the investigative work of Tracer Bullet. Mal was retired by Dave Harley at Rage in the Cage 2005 but came back in Global Warfare 2005 only to lose again. Somers teamed with Tommy Starr "SomerStarr" to win the Tag Team Titles and lost favour with the fans. This didn't last long and Mal is now back to his fun loving ways. |
