BREAKING NEWS: WWA SOLD!

'BREAKING NEWS: WWA SOLD!

January 31, 2012|MINNEAPOLIS, Minnesota-- Ladies and gentlemen, it is official.

The WWA is back again, and it's under new ownership. Or, at least, different ownership, as the new owner is none other than Vaughn Babb, the mysterious businessman that ran the company throughout the 2010 iteration.

Word has been making the rounds that this was going to happen, but the questions swirling instead pertained to the direction of the company, and specifically to just who in the hell it would be running the show. Much confusion arose when the discussions of a WWA reopening began to brew, considering the way the company closed its doors in mid- to late-2011 and then reopened shortly thereafter, only to close again. Well, after today's press conference amongst the concerned parties, all was made clear.

It appears that, according to reps from both Bruce Pepin and Vaughn Babb, the WWA that opened after Pepin left the company was not actually an official reopening, as it was revealed to be the work of a splinter group of ravenous fans and various low level WWA staff members. The reason for the closing of the company so soon afterward was the various copyright infringements and other laws broken by the group, which leads us all back to square one.

With Bruce Pepin getting elected to the Parliament of Canada in a landslide, and in an election he didn't even enter, no less, it became obvious that the WWA could no longer sail under his flag. Enter Babb, with a new attitude and new direction, and now we have a new WWA.

Due to various non-disclosure agreements, we cannot get into further detail at this time. However, when the new WWA is ready to reveal its plans, we will be here to report them to you.

Indy \"Legend\" signs with WWA

Eddie Whisky, a wrestling nomad with a well-earned reputation as a "free-spirit" has confirmed on his blog he has signed with the soon-to-return World Wrestling Alliance.

Whisky, real name John Edgar Whitowsky, recently returned as a full-time wrestler after a long hiatus to sort out 'personal issues.' He has also confirmed his friend and longtime manager General Mayhem will be joining him in what will be his first dalliance with the WWA. As well, a WWA insider has also confirmed Mayhem will be bringing a new incarnation of the notorious "General Mayhem's Army" stable (for copyright reasons, it will probably have a name change by show time).

The same WWA insider was tight-lipped when asked about Whitosky's previous reputation as a troublemaker, saying only "nobody's perfect."

Griffiths Returns to US, Sparking Rumours of a WWA Return

TMZ reports that the WWA is preparing to announce the rehiring of former WWA Champion, Jack Griffiths.

Griffiths, who is perhaps best remembered for winning the WWA Championship at the Independence Day Rumble 2010, was spotted at Newark Airport two days ago, fueling speculation that he may be preparing for a return to both the USA and a soon to be relaunched WWA.

Griffiths, who quietly retreated to Mexico during 2011, to escape the pressures of pro-wrestling, seemed to be in "the best shape of his life," further adding to suspicion in Mexico that it was infact Griffiths under the mask of 2011's breakout luchador "El guerrero británico"

TMZ was able to grab a few words with Griffiths as he passed through the airport and he commented that "there's been a lot of internet speculation about my well being following my last depature, but rumours of my demise have been greatly exagerated."

Griffiths went on to explain that he had been forced to step away from the ring, and disappear from the public eye, due to a personal meltdown, which he refused to comment further on.

The WWA refused to commment, but it is believed that they will make a formal announcement in the coming days.
